LCV Victory Fund Announces First General Election Investment in House Races – $2 Million Paid Media Campaign in CA-49, CT-05, KS-03, NM-02, PA-07, WA-08
Ads back supporters of the Inflation Reduction Act and oppose pro-polluter candidates
Washington, D.C. – On the heels of President Biden signing the historic Inflation Reduction Act into law, LCV Victory Fund announced its first six paid media investments in House races of the 2022 General Election, totaling $2 million, in: CA-49, CT-05, KS-03, NM-02, PA-07, and WA-08. Ads in CA-49 and WA-08 will be run in conjunction with EDF Action Votes.
These TV ad campaigns are intended to support climate champions in battleground districts who voted for the Inflation Reduction Act and oppose pro-polluter, MAGA extreme candidates, including incumbent Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell (NM-02), a member of LCV VF’s 2022 Dirty Dozen who voted against the strongest climate legislation in U.S. History. Ads will launch on a rolling basis over the next month.
The first spot, “Out For Herself”, calls attention to Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07)’s opponent, Lisa Scheller, and her support for a plan that includes tax cuts for millionaires and opposition to the cost saving Inflation Reduction Act.

“Environmental champions in the House just voted to lower costs for families, create millions of jobs, and take the strongest climate action in U.S. history – we must re-elect House Democrats in battleground districts to continue to build a just and thriving clean energy economy,” said LCV Victory Fund Senior National Campaigns Director Megan Jacobs. “There is no place in Congress for pro-polluter candidates who are completely out of step with the vast majority of voters in this country who support the Inflation Reduction Act.”
“The House passed the biggest climate investments in our history – to lower costs for families, create millions of clean energy jobs and to tackle the climate emergency head on,” said Hannah Blatt, EDF Action Votes Communications Director. “Now, we must ensure that champions like Reps. Mike Levin and Kim Schrier are re-elected so they can continue to build on this progress and deliver real results for their constituents.”
This $2 million investment in House races is part of the previously announced $100 million Climate Votes Project joint effort between Climate Power Action, Climate Reality Action Fund, EDF Action Votes (EDF AV), LCV Victory Fund (LCVVF), NRDC Action Votes (NRDC AV), and NextGen PAC.
So far in the general election, LCV Victory Fund has also run a $1.5 million ad campaign in opposition to Nevada Senate candidate Adam Laxalt and continues a $12.8 million field organizing effort with state affiliates and partners in support of key state and federal climate champions in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The full script of the first ad in this House campaign is below. Additional creative and scripts will be released in the coming weeks.
“Out For Herself” (PA-07)
Millionaire CEO Lisa Scheller is only out for herself
Scheller said a plan that includes tax cuts for millionaires was
‘A big step in the right direction’
She opposed a plan that would lower costs
On prescription drugs and energy bills for middle class families
And opposed making sure wealthy corporations pay their fair share
The truth is out
Lisa Scheller is in it for herself, not us
Pennsylvania families deserve better
