LCV Victory Fund Increases Ground Game to $600,000 investment in NY-03 Special Election
Queens, NY: Today, LCV Victory Fund announced they are increasing their initial $350,000 investment in field outreach to $600,000 to support Tom Suozzi in the February 13th special election for New York’s Third Congressional District.
LCV Victory Fund’s program will continue to focus on the Queens portion of the district which has experienced massive flooding due to extreme weather events and has serious concerns about lead pipes delivering drinking water. The paid canvass program will knock on 56,000 doors (up from 32,000) to mobilize and persuade voters in NY-03 to vote for Tom Suozzi in the special election. The program will also recruit mobilizers from the district to engage and turn out their friends and family to vote for Suozzi.
“Voters in New York, especially here in Queens and Nassau County, know how important this race is to tackle the environmental issues they care about,” said Erin Phillips, Deputy National Field Director at LCV Victory Fund. “That’s why we are nearly doubling our investment. At door after door, people in the district continue to tell us they are worried about climate disasters like flooding and want a representative who won’t be a part of the chaos caused by MAGA Republicans.”
Tom Suozzi has a long history of environmental leadership in New York. During his time in Congress, he earned an extremely impressive 98% lifetime score on the League of Conservation Voters National Environmental Scorecard. He also served as Mayor of Glen Cove and as Nassau County Executive and was the 2008 New York League of Conservation Voters’ Environmentalist of the Year.
