LCV Victory Fund Launches New House Ads
Washington, D.C.– Today, LCV Victory Fund announced the launch of a new wave of House ads in CA-45, OH-09, VA-02, MI-08, and NY-04 including broadcast and digital ads, as well as a mail program PA-07 . These are a part of the $14 million House campaign that launched last week and will support 16 House races across the country. This latest wave includes ads focusing on two members of this year’s Dirty Dozen, Anthony D’Esposito and Michelle Steel.
NY-04: Betrayed (Opposing Rep. Anthony D’Esposito)
This spot calls attention to how D’Esposito’s record has betrayed his constituents as he has voted against lowering energy bills and voted to cut access to Social Security and Medicare. This ad will run on digital platforms through Election Day.
CA-45: Money (Opposing Rep. Michelle Steel)
This ad, also running in Spanish, calls out Steel for voting against legislation that would have helped to stop oil companies from price gouging. Additionally, the ad draws attention to how Steel helped a wealthy donor to buy public land at below market value. This ad will run on digital platforms through Election Day.
OH-09: Bailout (Opposing Derek Merrin)
This spot calls out Derek Merrin for accepting money from FirstEnergy and their allies. Merrin also voted for a $1.3 billion dollar bailout for FirstEnergy. FirstEnergy was the center of one of the biggest money laundering cases Ohio has ever seen. The ad will run on Toledo broadcast starting today through September 30.
MI-08: The Choice (Opposing Paul Junge)
This ad contrasting Paul Junge and Kristen McDonald Rivet’s records on protecting clean water will run on broadcast in the Flint market starting today through October 3.
VA-02: Already (Opposing Rep. Jen Kiggans)
This spot calls out Jen Kiggans for being involved in a pay-to-play scandal in just her first term. Kiggans took thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and then just weeks later, she “requested millions of taxpayer dollars” for a fossil fuel company that would benefit those donors. The ad will run on Norfolk broadcast starting today through October 4.
These ads focus on a myriad of issues including clean water, MAGA Republican support of Big Polluters and Big Corporations, and rising costs. The negative ads against Derek Merrin (OH-09), Paul Junge (MI-08), and Jen Kiggans (VA-02) will appear on broadcast. Meanwhile, the anti-Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04) and Michelle Steel (CA-45) ads are digital. In PA-07, LCV Victory Fund is launching a 12 piece mail program focused on Ryan MacKenzie’s record including anti-environmental votes on water quality.
“These races are crucial to gaining pro-environment leadership in the House,” said Megan Jacobs, Vice President of Paid Communications and Elections. “As MAGA House Republicans have continued to threaten the climate progress made by the Biden-Harris administration and attempted to implement the radical Project 2025 policies, now more than ever, we need to ensure that climate champions and pro-environment candidates are in Congress that will stand up to Big Polluters, fight for access to clean air and water, and support the development of a clean energy economy.”
These ads come in the final six weeks of the 2024 election cycle and follow LCV Victory Fund’s announcement at the start of this month of the expansion of its field program by $6.2 million, upping the investment to $20.7 million to include additional House races across the country.

WATCH: Betrayed
Anthony D’Esposito betrayed us.
Voting to make it harder for veterans to get health care they need,
To cut access to Social Security and Medicare,
And opposed lowering energy bills.
He’s lost our trust.
WATCH: Money
¿Qué tan rico es vivir como Michelle Steel?
She’s lined her pockets thanks to the oil and gas industry…
And she voted against a bill that would have prevented oil companies from price gouging.
And when one of her wealthy donors wanted to buy public lands, she made sure he got a sweet deal, at well below market value.
Steel’s ethics are broken beyond repair.
WATCH: Bailout
How Derek Merrin is costing you….
Derek Merrin took their money and voted for First Energy’s bailout.
Ohio can’t afford more corruption.
Stop Derek Merrin
WATCH: The Choice
Do Michigan families deserve safe drinking water?
Paul Junge doesn’t think so
He’s backed by polluters
He took their money then opposed efforts to replace lead pipes here in Michigan
Now Paul Junge backs a radical plan to eliminate protections for clean drinking water nationwide
The right choice for us: Kristen McDonald rivet
She took on corporate polluters and will keep working to make our water safe
WATCH: Already
You’ve got to hand it to Jen Kiggans
It’s her first term, and she’s already been caught in a pay-to-play scandal.
News reports reveal Kiggans tried to give our tax dollars to her corporate donors.
Kiggans took “thousands of dollars” in campaign contributions from two corporations.
Then, she “requested millions of taxpayer dollars” for an oil company that would help those donors profit.
Jen Kiggans. Serving her corporate donors at our expense.
