RE: Weekly LCV Victory Fund Report: LCVVF Expands MI Field Program

——————————————————————————————————————————————

As the Southeast continues to feel the very real and devastating impacts of climate change, with more than 200 lives lost and hundreds still unaccounted for plus an expected billions in property losses, now more than ever we need to ensure that we have pro-environment candidates and climate champions in the White House and in Congress who are prepared to tackle the climate crisis head on. This week the Biden-Harris administration not only traveled to Georgia and North Carolina but  have also worked closely with the Governors of the states most impacted by the storm to ensure that relief and aid are provided swiftly to the region.

If we learned anything from this week’s Vice Presidential debate and Trump’s campaigning, it’s that a Trump-Vance administration will only continue to lie to the public about the threats of climate change and continue to do the bidding of Big Oil– Trump notably fundraised with Big Oil in Texas this week after visiting Helene-ravaged Georgia for a campaign stunt but again failed to acknowledge that climate change made this disaster worse. In the final 32 days until Election Day, we are ensuring voters know that Kamala Harris and pro-environment candidates up and down the ballot will protect access to clean air and water, continue to develop a clean energy economy that will lower costs and look out for our families and communities– not corporate interests like Big Oil.

LCVVF Field Program Updates

Expansion Alert!

NEWS: Earlier this week we announced we expanded our field programs in Pennsylvania.  Today we are announcing an expansion in Michigan as well. Between both states that’s an additional $1 million total to support Vice President Harris, Bob Casey (PA-Sen), Elissa Slotkin (MI-Sen) and Curtis Hertel (MI-07). This expansion builds on our efforts to continue to meet voters where they are and comes after we surpassed 1,000,000 doors knocked across the country! With this expansion, we are now on track to spend over $3.4 million in support of Senator Casey and $1.6 million in support of (future Senator) Slotkin.

With less than five weeks left until Election Day, we are connecting with undecided voters about how Kamala Harris and pro-environmental candidates will ensure access to clean air and water and lower costs. As a result of our door-knocking efforts, a voter in Arizona even took to social media to let us know about their experience with our canvassers who let us know that they discussed concerns about extreme heat and that they will be supporting Harris in this year’s election.

Results to date:

  • 1,140,466 door knocks
  • 163,9820 successful contacts with our target voters
  • 71% average presidential support for Harris
  • 25,350 vote tripling sign ups

Anecdotes from the doors:

  • CA-47: In Irvine, we spoke with Daniel about the upcoming Congressional election, who expressed that while he typically supported Republican candidates, he was drawn to Dave Min’s policy platform, especially his focus on issues like infrastructure, education, and the environment. Daniel said he would carefully weigh the candidates’ positions before making his decision, but was leaning towards supporting Min in November.
  • North Carolina: While knocking on doors in Charlotte, we had a conversation with Megan. We learned that she is a supporter of both Josh Stein for Governor and Kamala Harris for President and that she is motivated by issues such as reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights. Megan told us that she supports Kamala Harris for her climate agenda and ensuring Americans have access to clean air and water. She also said that she supports Josh Stein because of his economic plans for North Carolina.

Paid Media Updates

This week, paired with our Pennsylvania field expansion, we launched a $2 million digital ad campaign that called out Dirty Dozen member Dave McCormick for outsourcing American jobs. The program launched ahead of yesterday’s Pennsylvania Senate debate and includes three ads that will run on digital platforms.

As a part of our $55 million ad campaign for Kamala Harris with a climate coalition including Climate Power Action, EDF Action Votes and Future Forward, we launched two new Spanish language ads engaging Latino voters in battleground states. The ads highlight Harris’s vision in her own words to lower energy prices and reduce costs for working families.

We also launched four new House ads, including digital and broadcast ads and a mail program. These ads are a part of our initial $14 million House ad campaign we launched in September and has now grown to over $15 million. Below are our ongoing paid media campaigns:
