Re: Weekly LCV Victory Fund Update
Welcome back to LCV Victory Fund’s weekly update, where we share a recap of what we accomplished this week as we work to elect champions for climate and democracy up and down the ballot. As Hurricane Helene is devastating several states–reminding us all too well of the stakes in fighting the climate crisis, we’ve had a busy week launching ad programs, canvassing and announcing the Dirty Dozen in the States list.
Dirty Dozen in the States 2024
Following last week’s announcement of LCV Victory Fund’s federal Dirty Dozen list, this week we announced our state affiliates’ companion list of state Dirty Dozen candidates. It’s worth noting that on the same day Mark Robinson was named to the Dirty Dozen list, he was also fittingly endorsed by an oil industry trade group–the Oil and Gas Workers Association. While Robinson has become a national figure for all the wrong reasons, many of the other members of the state Dirty Dozen may be running in more obscure races that nevertheless have outsized impacts on climate and democracy policy.
- North Carolina candidate for Governor – Mark Robinson
- Oregon Secretary of State candidate – Dennis Linthicum
- Washington Public Lands Commissioner candidate – Jaime Herrera Beutler
- Arizona Corporation Commission candidate – Rachel Walden
- Garfield County, CO Commissioner – Mike Samson
- Montana Public Service Commissioner – Jennifer Fielder
- Arizona Legislative District 17 Senate candidate – Vince Leach
- California Assembly District 50 candidate – Adam Perez
- Georgia State Senator District 48 – Shawn Still
- Maine State Representative District 37 – Reagan Paul
- Pennsylvania State Representative District 160 – Craig Williams
- Wisconsin State Senator District 8 – Duey Stroebel
LCVVF Field Program Updates
We are continuing to meet voters where they are through our $20.7 million field program that includes Presidential, Senate and House races. This week we have continued to have conversations with undecided voters about how Kamala Harris and our pro-environment candidates will move our country forward.
Results to date:
- 934,055 door knocks
- 133,473 successful contacts with our target voters
- 71% of voters we spoke with told us they were voting for Harris
- 21,690 vote tripling sign ups
Anecdotes from the doors:
- Arizona: In Tucson, we spoke with Daniella about the upcoming November election. Her main concern was the worsening climate crisis, noting that the heat has become so extreme due to climate change that she can no longer leave her dogs outside. Daniella expressed deep concern about the future, fearing the heat will continue to intensify if action is not taken. Despite her worries, she affirmed her support for Kamala Harris, Ruben Gallego, and Kirsten Engel and committed to voting in the November election.
- Nevada: In Reno, we spoke with Claudia, who was not initially familiar with Jacky Rosen but expressed that she was now likely a Rosen voter after our conversation. She was particularly passionate about climate policy and believes Kamala Harris is the right candidate to address climate change due to the Vice President’s dedication to implementing aggressive policies that reduce carbon emissions, promote renewable energy and ensure environmental justice for vulnerable communities.
