Washington, D.C. — In response to Trump’s comments implying that he’d approve permits for Big Oil companies if they donate to his campaign — which would be a felony punishable with prison time — LCV Victory Fund issued the following statement from Senior Vice President of Campaigns Pete Maysmith:

“Trump jokes about felony quid pro quos for Big Oil companies that pollute our air and put our health at risk; Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will make them pay. We made a satirical ad about this same concept — but of course you can always trust Trump to take it beyond satire.”

Along with multiple 60, 30, 15 and 6 second ads, LCV Victory Fund ad “Make Them Pay” is backed by a $2 million national cable and digital ad buy announced on October 8. The campaign initially launched in the battleground state of Arizona and is now also up on national cable TV. The ad portrays the fossil fuel industry’s history of denying responsibility and downplaying their own science on climate change, while also highlighting how corporate polluters benefit from Trump’s dangerous environmental rollbacks.
