The 2022 election saw a green wave of voters elect pro-environment candidates to 130 federal and 975 state positions. Both our federal Dirty Dozen program and our state affiliates’ Dirty Dozen in the States program saw the defeat of 10 of 12 of the worst anti-environment candidates — a success rate of more than 83%. Our state affiliates helped protect and elect 13 pro-climate, pro-democracy governors. And four pro-climate, pro-democracy state trifectas — governor, state Senate, and state House — were established for 2023, with the election of pro-climate majorities in state legislatures in Michigan and Minnesota, and with gubernatorial wins in Maryland and Massachusetts.
Who We Are
LCV Victory Fund runs independent campaigns to influence competitive federal races where our involvement and issues can be decisive for pro-environment, pro-democracy candidates who reflect the racial and gender diversity of our country. We have deep experience and expertise in delivering victory for candidates who will translate these wins into environmental policies that benefit people across the country, and these policies increasingly focus on communities of color and low-wealth communities who are impacted by environmental racism and injustice.
